E-trikes now in Roxas City (Philippines)

Two units of environment friendly tricycles (e-trike) are now plying the city following the turn-over of the vehicles by Kasangga Partylist recently.

In a press release, Capiz Provincial Press Bureau (CPPB) said that the recipients of the solar-powered tricycles are members of the Federation of Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (FOTODA).

E-tricycle uses solar electric power, thus solar panels installed on the roof of the vehicle. Attached to it are two chargeable batteries.

Kasangga Partylist Rep. Teodorico Haresco, who led the turn-over ceremony, said that e-trikes have zero fuel consumption making it environment-friendly and economical.

Charging stations will be put up in key areas in Roxas City where tricycles can charge batteries in case the solar energy generated by the panels cannot sustain the power needs of the vehicle.

For his part, Capiz Gov. Victor A. Tanco, Sr. thanked the Kasangga Partylist for choosing the province as one of its recipients for the environment friendly project.

“The E-tricycle is indeed a very clever transport alternative – it’s economical, efficient and most of all, its environment friendly,” he said.

Ang Kasangga represents micro entrepreneurs that comprises 92 percent of all businesses and accounts for the employment of over 75 percent of the working population.
