Food safety regulator seeks public feedback on raw milk cheeses (Australia)

The food safety regulator is asking for comment on whether to allow raw milk products to be processed and sold in Australia.

FSANZ has already recommended that hard cheeses made from non-pasteurised milk be permitted, and is looking at other raw milk cheese, from cow’s and goat’s milk.

The authority has ruled out allowing the sale of raw drinking milk, saying the risk it may contain diseases is too high.

FSANZ is also seeking public comment on approving GM soybean in foods. The soybean is tolerant to two herbicides, glyphosate and isoxafultole.
