Hybrid Rickshaw (Tuk Tuk) – Amrita University

There are 3 million auto rickshaws(tuk tuks) in India. Most of them uses petrol/diesel engines and are a major cause of pollution in urban India. Our research project is aimed at converting a diesel powered rickshaw into an electric/diesel hybrid. We found that this would considerably reduce the fuel cost for rickshaw drivers and will be more environment friendly.

We indicate the battery level, speedometer values, total distance covered in a LCD screen. Other features include digitally controlled acceleration, micro processor controlled diesel injection and electronic compression control using an actuator.

We are a group of 4 students doing our MCA (Masters in Computer Applications) from Amrita University. We have been working on this project for the past 5 months.
