The three-wheeled vehicle, which is native to Thailand, can carry three passengers, with a maximum speed of 50-60mph.
It is so unusual that the sub-committee had to decide whether it would be eligible for a private hire license. Owner Stuart Pinnock has had the Tuk-Tuk since 2007, but has used it for charity events and special appearances in the past. Now it will be available for weddings, proms, and special occasions.
He said: “It goes down brilliantly at proms. You’ll have people turning up in Lamborghinis and Ferraris but the Tuk-Tuk upstages them.”
He added: “I want to keep it special. I don’t want people thinking ‘oh it’s just a tuk tuk’, and that could happen if I drive it day in day out.”
